The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Savage lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Smith at a distance.
Good exchange - Savage coming out on top.
Savage jabs Smith to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Savage has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Savage dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Savage scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Savage waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Smith. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Smith to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Smith is rocked!

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Savage is looking to stand up but Smith won't let him.
Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Billy Savage.

Savage drops Smith with a right and a left! Savage comes rushing in but Smith regains his composure and manages to keep Savage in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith managing to control the position.
Savage has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Billy Savage.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Savage circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Savage defends well and Smith ends up having to push Savage into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Savage creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Savage's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Smith changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Savage fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Billy Savage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Smith.

Savage drops Smith with a left right combo! Savage follows him down to the ground into side control.
Smith is still in real trouble! Can Savage finish him?

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Savage tries to stand but Smith is controlling his head.
Smith seems to have recovered his senses.
Smith tries to bench press Savage off him but Savage keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Smith is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Savage off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Savage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Smith takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Savage looks to land a combination. Smith sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Savage buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Savage lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Savage cracks Smith with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Smith is rocked!
Billy Savage is winning the standup battle so far.
Savage scores with a body shot.
Savage drops Smith with a naaaaasty hook - Smith is in real trouble here! Savage dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
