PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Conor Byrne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Aria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Byrne might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I'm Shipping Up To Boston. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Conor Byrne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shawn Aria!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrne tries to close the distance and clinch but Aria swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Aria is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Byrne tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aria swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Aria shoots in looking for a takedown. Byrne tries to sprawl out of it but Aria keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Byrne manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Byrne lands a body shot.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Byrne has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Aria uses from the top position.
Byrne is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Byrne throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Byrne works his foot free and advances to mount.
Byrne has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Byrne lands a big shot there that rocks Aria but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Byrne has control of Aria's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Aria regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Aria is looking to improve his position but Byrne isn't that keen on the idea.

Byrne quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Byrne but it's paid off an Aria is forced to tap! Nice work by Byrne.
