Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ken Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Mein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ken Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jordan Mein!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Askren throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Mein shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mein was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mein cracks Askren with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Askren is looking for a sweep.
Askren is working hard here to advance position.
Mein wants to control but Askren is keeping him busy.
Askren manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Askren wants to pass the guard but Mein is defending well.
Mein is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Askren jumps into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mein is trying to get back to half guard.

Mein gets caught flat footed, as Askren shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mein pulls Askren in to control the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Askren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mein swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Askren forces his way into half guard.

Mein moves into full guard.
Mein keeping moving, preventing Askren from controlling successfully.
Askren trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mein is on top in guard.
Mein trying to control the position from guard on top but Askren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Askren manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mein manages to get himself to full guard.

Askren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mein on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Askren drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Mein is not content to let Askren control the position.

Askren is trying to get an arm triangle but Mein is defending well.

Askren thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mein regains half guard there - taking advantage of Askren's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Askren is taking a breather. Mein says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mein wants to improve his position but Askren is controlling well.
Askren is looking to pass Mein's guard but actually Mein recovers to full guard.

Askren drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Askren jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mein keeping moving, preventing Askren from controlling successfully.
Mein is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mein might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Askren haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Askren pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mein is keeping the position for now.

Mein is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Mein closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Askren's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mein working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mein creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Askren sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Mein wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Askren.
Mein has given up his back. Will we see Askren going for some submissions?

Mein wants to control from the top but Askren keeps moving.

Mein throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mein not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Mein thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Askren's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ken Askren.
I think Mein has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
