Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nicholas Weichel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Einat Thoresen!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Weichel as Thoresen shoots in.

Thoresen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Weichel's guard.
Thoresen wants to control from the top but Weichel keeps moving.
Weichel controls Thoresen momentarily but Thoresen frees himself.
Thoresen controls from within his opponent's guard.

Weichel looking for a guillotine here but Thoresen defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thoresen wants to control from the top but Weichel keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Einat Thoresen.

Thoresen gets a takedown into half guard.
Weichel is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Weichel moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Weichel looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Weichel controls Thoresen momentarily but Thoresen frees himself.

Thoresen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Weichel's guard.
Weichel is looking for a sweep. Thoresen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Thoresen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Thoresen trying to control the action but Weichel is working from the bottom.
Weichel is looking to improve his position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Thoresen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Weichel is proving hard to escape from.
Weichel is trying to control the position but Thoresen postures up.
Thoresen wants to pass the guard but Weichel is keeping the position.

Thoresen throws a big elbow that misses.

Thoresen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thoresen gets caught flat footed, as Weichel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Weichel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Thoresen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thoresen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thoresen!

Weichel manages to work his way to half guard, despite Thoresen's best efforts.

Thoresen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Weichel is trying to control but can't.
Thoresen wants to pass the guard but Weichel is defending well.
Weichel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Thoresen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Thoresen's back!

Nicholas Weichel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thoresen wants to control his opponent's hands but Weichel gets his hands free.
Thoresen rolls, trying to escape but Weichel keeps control of the position.

Weichel is controlling the position but Thoresen somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Weichel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thoresen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Weichel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thoresen keeps working.
Thoresen looks like he's trying to stand up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Weichel holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Weichel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Thoresen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Thoresen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Thoresen shoots in looking for a takedown. Weichel tries to sprawl out of it but Thoresen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Weichel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Thoresen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Weichel's waist but Weichel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thoresen off to one side.
Weichel shoots in but no luck this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thoresen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Weichel is defended easily by Thoresen.
Thoresen is looking to clinch.

Thoresen shoots in but no luck this time.
Nicholas Weichel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Einat Thoresen.
Weichel wants to slow Thoresen down by chopping away at his legs.

Weichel closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Thoresen's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thoresen is on top in guard.
Thoresen tries to free his leg and advance position but Weichel is retaining full guard.
Thoresen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Weichel is trying to control the position but Thoresen postures up.
Weichel wants to sweep but no luck.

Thoresen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Weichel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thoresen has managed to get both his arms back between Weichel's legs - danger averted.
Thoresen with a flurry of punches that miss.

Thoresen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Thoresen moves in looking to clinch but Weichel pushes him off.
Thoresen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Weichel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Thoresen fails with a takedown attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Weichel shoots for a double leg takedown but Thoresen sprawls well. He's pushed Weichel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Thoresen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Weichel to the ground. Thoresen is now in Weichel's guard.

Weichel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thoresen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Weichel tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Thoresen postures up.
Weichel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Thoresen advances to half guard.
Thoresen missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Thoresen passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Weichel!
Thoresen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Weichel is looking to escape.
Thoresen prevents Weichel from getting the reversal.

And that's the end of the fight!
Einat Thoresen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Thoresen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
