PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Mmachi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mmachi has chosen Droideka- Get Hyper as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mmachi falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bishop counters with a series of strikes. Mmachi will be more careful next time no doubt.
Bishop ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Bishop throws a series of punches but Mmachi moves out of range.

Bishop's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mmachi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Mmachi is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bishop has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mmachi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bishop's waist but Bishop gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mmachi off to one side.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mmachi is on top in guard.
Chris Mmachi has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bishop is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mmachi is controlling him.
Mmachi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bishop's guard.

Mmachi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bishop is just riding it out for now. Mmachi eventually gives up the hold.
Mmachi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bishop wants to get back to his feet.
Bishop keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Mmachi seems to be looking for submissions.
Bishop is looking to escape.
Mmachi is keen to just control but Bishop is a slippery customer.

Bishop pushes Mmachi off looking to stand but Mmachi dives back in and keeps control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bishop is looking to get back to is feet but Mmachi passes into side control.
Mmachi scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bishop to see if he's OK.

Mmachi decides to stand back up. Mmachi steps back and let's Bishop get back to his feet.
Mmachi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

After the fight, Chris Mmachi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
