PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Freeman Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Bourne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bourne has chosen Do I Wanna Know?-Arctic Monkeys as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Freeman Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Bourne!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Perry is predictable there

and Bourne counters by moving into the clinch.

Bourne's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bourne leaves Perry with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Perry tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bourne paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Perry throws a head kick that misses.
Perry tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Bourne counters with a head kick that drops Perry to the mat! Perry scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Perry is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bourne changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perry tries to avoid it but Bourne manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perry to the ground. Perry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Oh Perry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bourne has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bourne landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Bourne tries to score a body lock takedown but Perry shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bourne is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Perry seems to have got his legs back now.
A frustrated look appears on Perry's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bourne drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Freeman Perry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Bourne.
Bourne is working for takedown but Perry is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Perry wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Bourne pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bourne is on top in guard.
Bourne wants to control from the top but Perry keeps moving.
Bourne is stalling in the full guard.

Bourne is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bourne sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Bourne stands and steps away. Perry gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Bourne looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Perry is fending him off so far but Bourne persists. Nope, Perry circles away and we're back to standing.
Perry fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bourne avoids it really well and circles away.
Perry slaps away a takedown attempt from Bourne, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Perry misses with a kick to the body.

Perry moves into the clinch successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bourne is pressed up against the cage. Perry has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bourne down to the mat. Bourne avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Bourne drives through and clinches with Perry against the cage.

Bourne pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Perry dives in and grabs Bourne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bourne pushes down on Perry's head and hops out.
Bourne shoots in looking for a takedown. Perry tries to sprawl out of it but Bourne keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Perry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bourne darts in looking for a takedown but Perry gets double underhooks and turns Bourne into the cage.

Bourne manages to break the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bourne looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bourne throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Perry's waist but Perry gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bourne off to one side.
Bourne looks winded!

Perry shoots for a double leg takedown but Bourne sprawls well. He's pushed Perry's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bourne avoids the head kick by Perry.
Sloppy strikes from Perry. Those never looked like landing.
Perry shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bourne looks for a takedown but Perry sprawls well.
Perry tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bourne sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Perry somewhat.

Bourne pushes Perry up against the cage in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bourne lands a nice knee to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bourne connects with a knee to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Bourne dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bourne blocks a head kick by Perry.
Perry wants to clinch up but Bourne keeps it at a distance.

Bourne gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Perry wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Perry misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bourne.

Perry jumps guard and drags Bourne to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bourne's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Bourne drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bourne jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Perry looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perry tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bourne pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Perry is keeping the position for now.
Bourne throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Perry works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Perry wants to sweep but no luck.
Bourne with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bourne trying to control but Perry is working from the bottom.
Bourne pushing down on Perry's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Bourne is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Perry reverses the position - he's now on top in Bourne's guard.

Bourne has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Perry has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Bourne is trying to pull guard but Perry has him pressed against the cage.
Bourne is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Perry is defending well.
Perry is trying to stall.
Perry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bourne decides to pull guard.
Perry controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Bourne has his foot on Perry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Perry works his way back into a safe position though.

Bourne wants to sweep here but Perry controlling him for the moment.

Perry throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bourne works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bourne not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bourne misses with a body shot.
A chopping leg kick lands by Bourne.
Bourne tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Perry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bourne closes the distance and clinches up with Perry, looking for a takedown. Bourne pushes Perry against the cage but Perry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Freeman Perry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Bourne.
Bourne is breathing heavily.
Bourne will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bourne shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Perry as he jumps to the side.

Perry gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Perry.
Perry misses with a knee strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Bourne will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Perry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Bourne shoots for a double leg takedown but Perry sprawls well. He's pushed Bourne's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bourne keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bourne shoots in for a takedown but Perry shows good takedown defense.
Jack Bourne seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Perry closes the distance and clinches up with Bourne, looking for a takedown. Perry pushes Bourne against the cage but Bourne circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Perry with that takedown attempt.

Bourne looks to land a combination but Perry avoids it well.

Perry dives in for a single leg takedown but Bourne sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Bourne pulls Perry in close to his closed guard and prevents Perry from doing any damage or advancing position.

Perry is looking to stand up but Bourne won't let him.

Bourne looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bourne is working an open guard so Perry takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Freeman Perry is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Perry tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bourne manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Perry closes the distance and clinches.
Bourne looking for a takedown.
Perry tries to break free but Bourne pushes him back against the cage.
Perry jumps guard but Bourne turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Bourne pulls Perry into guard.

Bourne working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Perry doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Perry manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bourne bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Perry's guard.
Perry seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Perry looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bourne is one step ahead there.
Perry is working hard here to advance position.

Perry lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bourne!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bourne is still trying to improve position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Perry thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Bourne manages to regain half guard. Good work.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Freeman Perry.
Well Bourne has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jack Bourne tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
