PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Malcolm King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suu Kii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malcolm King had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Suu Kii!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kii scores with a spinning back kick!

King throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kii was covering up waiting for the punch and King finishes the takedown easily into guard.
King postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
King definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kii keeping full guard, as King tries to pass.
Kii tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kii is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
King has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
King working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kii looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
King trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kii is pulling down on King's head to control his posture.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
King on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kii. Kii obviously looking to wear him down.

King dives in and scores a takedown into Kii's guard.
King won't allow Kii to sweep him here.

King is looking to stand up but Kii won't let him.
Kii has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Suu Kii hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kii defends well against a solid takedown attempt from King.

King dives in and grabs Kii's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kii pushes down on King's head and hops out.
King is breathing heavily.
An inside leg kick lands from Kii.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice uppercut lands for Kii. That snapped King's head back.
King on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Kii turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kii.
Kii scores with a nice strike.

Kii shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches King napping and manages to drive through into side control!
King is looking to regain half guard here but Kii keeps moving and retains side control.

Kii scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at King to see if he's OK.

Kii tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kii has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kii wants to control for a moment but King uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

King is defending against the submission attempts here by Kii.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kii in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Suu Kii dominated that round.
That's time! King's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kii moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
King moves forwards but Kii connects with a nice, crisp jab.
King shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kii pinned against the cage. Kii gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kii connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kii darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kii lands a nice leg kick that just misses King's sensitive parts.
Kii jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Kii plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
King sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
King throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
King tries to clinch but Kii moves out of range.
King takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kii lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Kii lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Kii wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Kii moves into range and clinches up with King.
Kii scores with a shoulder strike.
Kii lands with a short shot to the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kii creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

King is rocked!
A short right from Kii on the inside.
Oh King is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kii scores with a nice hook to the head.
Kii is stalling here.
Kii creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends King's eyes rolling into the back of his head! King drops to his knees and Kii pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
