PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodrick Estes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jax Teller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rodrick Estes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jax Teller!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Teller throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Estes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Teller is in Estes's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Teller trying to control the position from guard on top but Estes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Estes has his foot on Teller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Teller works his way back into a safe position though.

Estes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Teller is aware though and is defending well.

Estes working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Teller has passed into half guard!

Estes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Teller pulls his head out easily.
Teller wants to stand up but Estes has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Teller with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Teller connects with a nice short shot to Estes's temple.
Teller is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Teller thows a huge punch but Estes dodges it nicely.

Estes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Teller pulls his head out easily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Teller lands a nice short elbow.
Teller works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Teller cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Estes looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Teller biding his time, looking for the opening.

Estes holding both Teller 's hands and preventing any damage.
Estes wants to escape the position.
Teller is looking to control Estes but Estes is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Estes tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Teller lands with some strikes.
Teller sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Teller avoids the attempt from Estes to control.

Teller trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Teller postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Estes looks a forlorn figure.
Teller tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Estes is trying to reverse the position but instead Teller has taken his back - oops!

Estes is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Teller looking for the choke but no joy.
Teller trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Estes doesn't escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Estes looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Estes is trying to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jax Teller dominated that round.
That's time! Estes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Teller throws a chopping leg kick but Estes manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Teller scores with a takedown into Estes's guard.
Estes keeping moving, preventing Teller from controlling successfully.
Estes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Teller distracts Estes with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Estes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Teller trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Estes throws his legs up looking for a submission but Teller uses it to pass to side control.
Estes gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Teller tries to pass to full mount but Estes defends it.
Estes is looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Teller controlling the pace.
Teller wants to pass the guard but Estes is defending well.
Estes wants to improve his position but Teller is controlling well.

Estes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Teller slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Teller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jax Teller has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Teller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jax Teller was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Jax Teller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Teller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Estes napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Teller wants to stand but Estes is controlling his arm.
Estes is not content to let Teller control the position.
Estes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Teller off and has taken his back!
Estes has the hooks in. Teller is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Estes is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Teller is defending well though. Estes let's go of the attempt for now.

Teller covering up well and avoiding damage.
Estes missing with punches from the back.
Teller tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Teller tries to hold on but Estes postures up.

Teller is trying desperately to improve position.
Estes controlling from the full mount.
Estes landing strikes from the mount.

Estes has hold of Teller's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Teller manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Teller tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Teller sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Teller is looking for a sweep. Estes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Teller is trying to maintain the position but Estes is very close to passing his half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Estes seems content to control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Teller can do anything to dispel that myth.

We're going to have a standup here because Rodrick Estes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Teller drives through with a takedown into Estes's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Estes working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Teller has passed into half guard!
Estes landing rabbit punches to the side of Teller's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.

Jax Teller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Teller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
