PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Young GSP (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pearl Whites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as GSP checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Whites throws a nice looking combination but GSP bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
GSP misses with a takedown attempt - Whites sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

GSP looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
GSP wants to take a breather but Whites is having none of it.
GSP is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Whites is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Whites wants to improve his position but GSP is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Whites wants to control but GSP is keeping busy.

GSP tries to stand but can't do so whilst Whites controls his leg.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with GSP in particular looking to stall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
GSP tries to clinch up but Whites circles away and keeps his distance.
Whites throws a right and a left that both miss.
GSP fails with the takedown.

Whites bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

GSP is looking for a sweep. Whites is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Whites slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Whites slips nicely into half guard.

GSP is positioning himself well to prevent Whites advancing to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
GSP is looking for a sweep. Whites is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Whites thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed GSP's head.
Whites throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
GSP avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Whites.

Whites tries to clinch there but GSP circles away.
GSP throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Whites moves out of range as GSP strikes.

GSP wants to stand and escape but Whites is having none of it.
Whites stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. GSP swivels though and keeps the full guard.

GSP is looking to stand up but Whites isn't so interested in that idea.

Whites trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
GSP throws a head kick that misses.
Whites closes the distance and clinches up with GSP, looking for a takedown. Whites pushes GSP against the cage but GSP circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
GSP scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
GSP drops down looking for an ankle pick but Whites pulls his leg out and moves away.

Whites circles away from the clinch attempt.

GSP has managed to clinch.

GSP breaks from the clinch.

GSP forces Whites back against the cage and clinches.
Whites can't break the clinch.
GSP manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

GSP pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Whites tries to stall but GSP uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Whites can't get the takedown.
Young GSP has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pearl Whites.
GSP goes for a takedown attempt but Whites pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and GSP holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Whites has hold of one of GSP's legs. GSP is fighting the takedown attempt but Whites gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

That's time! GSP's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Whites is pressed up against the cage. GSP has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Whites down to the mat. Whites avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now GSP is on top in guard.

I would just about give that final round to Pearl Whites.
