Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viacheslav Smirnov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Smirnov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Orr's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smirnov wants to control from the top but Orr keeps moving.
Smirnov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Smirnov controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Viacheslav Smirnov.

Smirnov clinches up with Orr and pushes him back against the cage.
Orr goes for a takedown attempt but Smirnov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

so Orr counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Orr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smirnov is proving hard to escape from.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smirnov is on top in guard.
Smirnov is working Orr over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Smirnov postures up in Orr's guard and throws a big left but Orr blocks it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Smirnov throwing strikes from guard but Orr blocks nicely.
Smirnov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Orr is breathing heavily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Orr swats away the attempt to clinch by Smirnov.

Smirnov shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Smirnov winds up and cracks Orr with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Smirnov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Orr with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Smirnov stops Orr from getting back to his feet.

Viacheslav Smirnov has got the better of the ground game so far.

Smirnov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smirnov is looking to take a break and control but Orr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Smirnov decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Orr counters with a takedown into side control.

Smirnov sneaks back into half guard.
Smirnov is concentrating on defense, preventing Orr from advancing position.
Smirnov misses with some strikes from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smirnov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smirnov slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Smirnov is trying to control the position but Orr postures up.
Smirnov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rusty Orr just wasn't active enough.

Smirnov shoots in and gets a takedown into Orr's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viacheslav Smirnov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Smirnov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Smirnov passes the guard and advances to mount!
Orr wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Smirnov.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smirnov lands a big shot to the head and Orr winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
