The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rice misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rice looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A head kick by Mathers misses
and Rice cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mathers tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Rice drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rice trying to control but Mathers is working from the bottom.
Rice throws a strike but Mathers rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Rice looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Rice is trying to keep Mathers in close.
Mathers not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Shelton Rice wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Rice has closed the distance and engaged Mathers in a clinch.
Mathers fails to pull guard.
Mathers tries to pull guard but Rice won't allow it.

Rice breaks the clinch.

Rice looking to score a takedown here. Mathers is defending well but Rice drives through and ends up in Mathers's guard.

Mathers looking for a triangle here. Rice is fighting it but it looks tight! Mathers pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Rice is tapping out - this one is all over!
