3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Volya Nikolaev! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nikolaev shoots in for a takedown but Santana shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Santana takes the fight into the clinch. Santana lands a left hand that snaps the head of Nikolaev backwards. A knee to the head by Santana.
Nikolaev's coach down at St Petersburg MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Nikolaev's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Nikolaev is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Santana connects with a knee to the head.
