Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donn Hutchinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tipene Rawhiti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donn Hutchinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tipene Rawhiti!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rawhiti pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hutchinson shoots in but no luck this time.

Rawhiti moves into the clinch.

Hutchinson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rawhiti shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rawhiti was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Rawhiti with the ground and pound but Hutchinson regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Rawhiti looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Hutchinson tries to kick Rawhiti off but Rawhiti keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Rawhiti gets caught flat footed, as Hutchinson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Rawhiti looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hutchinson passes into half guard.
Rawhiti won't allow Hutchinson to pass to mount.

Hutchinson performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rawhiti has eaten all the pies!
Hutchinson is keen to just control but Rawhiti is a slippery customer.
Hutchinson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rawhiti is looking for a sweep. Hutchinson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hutchinson is nestled in close to Rawhiti, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rawhiti tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Hutchinson manages to move to mount!

Hutchinson is working for a guillotine from mount but Rawhiti frees his head quite easily.
Hutchinson avoids the attempt from Rawhiti to control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hutchinson tries to control but Rawhiti wriggling away.
Rawhiti tries to reverse the position but Hutchinson maintains control.

Hutchinson moves nicely into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rawhiti can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hutchinson tries to stand but Rawhiti is controlling his head.
Hutchinson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Hutchinson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hutchinson gets to mount! Rawhiti was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Rawhiti tries to hold on but Hutchinson pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rawhiti scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Rawhiti keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hutchinson gets tackled into the cage by Rawhiti. Rawhiti maintains the clinch.
Rawhiti digs a right hand underneath Hutchinson's ribcage. Hutchinson let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Hutchinson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Rawhiti is defending well.

Rawhiti breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rawhiti dives in and scores a takedown into Hutchinson's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rawhiti must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rawhiti would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rawhiti missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rawhiti wants to get up but he can't break Hutchinson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hutchinson has momentary wrist control but Rawhiti slips an elbow through the middle.

Rawhiti thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hutchinson is trying to keep Rawhiti in close.

Hutchinson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Hutchinson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rawhiti tries to free his leg and advance position but Hutchinson is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hutchinson shoots in for a takedown but Rawhiti shows good takedown defense.

Hutchinson moves in looking to clinch but Rawhiti pushes him off.
Rawhiti tries to bum rush Hutchinson with a series of wild strikes but Hutchinson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Well, if Rawhiti is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hutchinson wants to improve his position but Rawhiti is controlling well.

Rawhiti looking for a guillotine from mount but Hutchinson is having none of it.

Rawhiti goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hutchinson is on top in guard.

Rawhiti wants to get back to full guard but Hutchinson has mounted him!

Hutchinson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rawhiti is looking to escape.
Rawhiti is in all sorts of trouble here.
Hutchinson wants to get back to his feet but Rawhiti is holding on tight.
Hutchinson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hutchinson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Well Rawhiti has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
