Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Monte Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew Odoyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Monte Holt has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holt tries to clinch but Odoyle moves away

and Odoyle counters with a single leg into guard. Holt didn't expect that.

Odoyle decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Holt, up you get!

Odoyle is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Holt's half guard.
Holt wants to get back to full guard.

Holt pushes Odoyle off and scrambles back to his feet.
Holt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Odoyle scores with a takedown into Holt's guard.
Odoyle trying to control the position from guard on top but Holt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Odoyle controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Holt is trying to keep Odoyle in close.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Odoyle has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Odoyle moves into the clinch successfully.
Holt is trying to push Odoyle away but Odoyle has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Holt tries for a takedown. No joy.

Odoyle pulls guard effortlessly.
Odoyle pulls Holt in close to prevent any damage.
Odoyle looking for a sweep. Not yet Odoyle, not yet.
Odoyle looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mathew Odoyle wasn't active enough on the ground.
Holt wants to clinch

and Odoyle moves into the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Odoyle keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Holt's efforts to push away.
Holt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Odoyle walks away with a smile on his face. Holt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Holt tries to keep at a distance but Odoyle has taken the fight into the clinch.

Holt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Odoyle fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Holt sprawls well initially but Odoyle persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Odoyle thows a huge punch but Holt dodges it nicely.
Holt is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holt wants to sweep but Odoyle has passed to side control!
Holt gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Odoyle content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Odoyle thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Odoyle uses his free foot to push down on Holt's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Holt.

Holt is looking to improve his position but Odoyle isn't that keen on the idea.
Odoyle tries to control but Holt wriggling away.
Odoyle lands with some strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Odoyle throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Holt has his hands clasped together but Odoyle breaks the hold and Holt is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Odoyle!
