And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Geel looks for the body kick but Mack saw that one coming.
Van Geel misses with a takedown

and Mack counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Van Geel with the active half guard here but Mack passes nicely into side control.
Mack controls the position.
Van Geel is trying to buck Mack off.
Van Geel is looking to regain half guard here but Mack keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Van Geel manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mack's best efforts.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Van Geel is looking to improve his position.
Mack trying to control the pace.

Van Geel is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mack pulls his head out easily.
Mack really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Van Geel looking for a kimura from the bottom but Mack passes into side control!
Mack lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Van Geel down.
Van Geel tries to improve position but can't.
Mack controlling the position.
Van Geel tries to buck Mack off but Mack is having none of it.

Mack tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Van Geel taking a bit of punishment here - Mack scoring with strikes.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Van Geel tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mack tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Van Geel working to try and regain half guard.
Mack will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Van Geel slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mack tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Van Geel.

Mack wants to pass the guard but Van Geel is defending well.
Mack is working hard here to advance position.

Van Geel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mack's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mack's back!
Mack is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
I really don't envy Mack right now.

Van Geel patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Van Geel is working for a rear naked choke. Mack is not defending it well and Van Geel has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Mack refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Mack's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
