The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leonardo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hatayama wants to control from the top but Leonardo keeps moving.

Hatayama drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hatayama jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Leonardo wants to stand and escape but Hatayama is having none of it.
Hatayama stays in close to Leonardo 's body and controls the position.
Hatayama won't allow Leonardo to get back to his feet.
Hatayama trying to control the position from guard on top but Leonardo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hatayama controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hatayama thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hatayama pushing down on Leonardo 's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Hatayama wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leonardo keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hatayama moves nicely into side control.
The ground and pound from Hatayama seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Leonardo is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hatayama is controlling him well.
