Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crisanto Pitpitunge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forrest Griffin could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Crisanto Pitpitunge's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Forrest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Crisanto Pitpitunge!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Pitpitunge shows good takedown defense.
Pitpitunge shoots in but no luck this time.
Griffin feints and then cracks Pitpitunge's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pitpitunge down.

Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pitpitunge sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Griffin prevents Pitpitunge from improving his position.
Griffin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pitpitunge is trying to escape the mount.
Griffin scores with a couple of good head shots there.

We've been hearing that Griffin has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Griffin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pitpitunge is working away from the top position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Forrest Griffin will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Crisanto Pitpitunge showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Crisanto Pitpitunge hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pitpitunge shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Forrest Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crisanto Pitpitunge.
Pitpitunge fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Griffin avoids it really well and circles away.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Forrest Griffin.
I think Griffin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
