Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Hobbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Dawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Hobbs has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Hobbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Grant Dawkins!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hobbs takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dawkins throws the kick towards the body but Hobbs avoids it.
Dawkins slips a jab and a cross from Hobbs.
Hobbs darts in looking for a takedown but Dawkins gets double underhooks and turns Hobbs into the cage.
Dawkins looking to stall.
Dawkins can't get the takedown.

Hobbs pulls Dawkins into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hobbs pulls Dawkins in close to prevent any damage.
Dawkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Hobbs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dawkins won't allow Hobbs to sweep him here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Grant Dawkins hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Dawkins avoids a punch combination nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dawkins moves in looking to clinch but Hobbs pushes him off.
Hobbs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dawkins defends well and Hobbs ends up having to push Dawkins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Dawkins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hobbs walks away with a smile on his face. Dawkins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Dawkins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That was a close round but I would say that James Hobbs will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hobbs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dawkins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hobbs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hobbs prevents Dawkins from getting back to his feet.

Dawkins throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hobbs escapes and throws Dawkins's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hobbs is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dawkins doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hobbs.

Dawkins wants to improve his position but Hobbs is controlling well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hobbs looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hobbs is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dawkins defends it well.

Dawkins has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Hobbs escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Hobbs!

That was a close second round but I would say that James Hobbs will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Horrible takedown by Dawkins or perhaps it was just good defense by Hobbs which made him look bad.
Dawkins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hobbs sprawls well. Hobbs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dawkins gets slowly back to his feet.
