Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Giljotin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Protacio Jawo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Giljotin comes to the cage accompanied by Ticon - Miss 11 PM (DJ CHILLER REMIX 2011) . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Giljotin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Protacio Jawo!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jawo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Giljotin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Giljotin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jawo.
Jose Protacio Jawo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jawo throws out a loose jab but Giljotin uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jawo has managed to clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jawo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jawo throws a punch but it's blocked by Giljotin.

Giljotin gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Giljotin is looking for a kimura but Jawo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Giljotin to get the leverage.

Giljotin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Giljotin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jawo is looking for a sweep. Giljotin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Giljotin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jawo is just riding it out for now. Giljotin eventually gives up the hold.
Jawo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Giljotin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Giljotin's back!

Jawo is trying to stick to Giljotin's back but Giljotin is turning into Jawo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Jawo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Giljotin.

Giljotin has his foot on Jawo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jawo works his way back into a safe position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Giljotin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jawo defends it easily.

That was a close round but I would say that David Giljotin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jawo looks to score with a jab to the body but Giljotin is just out of range.

and Giljotin counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jawo!

Giljotin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Giljotin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Giljotin looks up at the clock and then as Jawo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Giljotin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Giljotin swings around for an armbar but Jawo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Giljotin's guard.

Jawo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jawo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

We've been hearing good reports from Giljotin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
