PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sir Jecht (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Magnus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jecht's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Lumberjack. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sir Jecht!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Simon Magnus!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magnus tries to land a leg kick but Jecht saw it coming and moves away.

and Jecht decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Magnus's guard.
Jecht stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Magnus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jecht controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jecht prevents Magnus from getting back to his feet.
Magnus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jecht. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jecht working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Magnus's head.
Magnus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jecht trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Magnus is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jecht is controlling him.

Jecht will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sir Jecht wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Jecht dives in and scores a takedown into Magnus's guard.

Jecht throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Magnus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jecht's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jecht works over Magnus with some ground and pound from guard.
Jecht has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jecht stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Magnus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

We've been hearing that Jecht has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Jecht controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Magnus can't keep his opponent in guard - Jecht advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jecht drops an elbow to the side of Magnus's head.

Jecht is working for a submission of some sort.
Jecht is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Jecht's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Magnus wants to get back to full guard.

Jecht is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Jecht shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jecht was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Jecht is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Magnus knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Magnus looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jecht really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jecht content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Magnus tries to control but Jecht manages to take his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Magnus takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Sir Jecht overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jecht is punishing Magnus with strikes - can he finish him?!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Magnus manages to reverse the position and now he's in Jecht's guard. Nice work there by Magnus.
Jecht lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Magnus!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Magnus is trying to stand up.
Jecht takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jecht lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

You get the feeling that Magnus really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Magnus wants to control but Jecht is having none of it.

Jecht fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Jecht breaks from Magnus's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Magnus is still in real trouble! Can Jecht finish him?
Jecht is landing with some decent strikes but Magnus is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Jecht looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Magnus covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
