Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abednego Smiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Feta Kooli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Feta Kooli has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Abednego Smiff's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abednego Smiff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Feta Kooli!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kooli darts in trying to clinch

and Smiff counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
You can see the frustration on Kooli's face as Smiff controls the position.
Smiff gets to mount! Kooli was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smiff working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Smiff controlling the position easily from mount.
Kooli can't escape the position.

Smiff controlling from the full mount.
Smiff has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kooli keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Kooli sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kooli wants to sweep but Smiff has passed to side control!
Smiff in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Kooli is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Smiff is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kooli's shoulder. That is not cool.
Kooli stops Smiff from passing to mount.
Smiff controls the position from side control.
Smiff seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kooli for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Abednego Smiff wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kooli tries to clinch

and Smiff counters by clinching up.
Smiff is trying to break the clinch but Kooli is controlling him.
Kooli tries to land a knee to the head but Smiff blocks with his arms.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smiff blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Kooli misses with a knee to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abednego Smiff dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Smiff circles away from the clinch attempt

so Smiff counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Smiff has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kooli wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smiff controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kooli not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Abednego Smiff just wasn't active enough.
Smiff circles away from the clinch attempt.

Smiff drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kooli has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smiff can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Smiff scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Smiff is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kooli not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kooli looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Smiff has picked Kooli up and slammed him! Kooli can't keep hold of the triangle and Smiff manages to pass to side control!
Kooli tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Smiff working away.
Kooli wants to get back to his feet but Smiff drags him back down.
Kooli is looking to reverse the position.
Kooli trying to control but Smiff flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Smiff controls the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kooli looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abednego Smiff dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kooli tries to clinch

and Smiff counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee asks Smiff politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Smiff prefers to stall for the moment though.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Abednego Smiff just wasn't active enough.
Kooli uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smiff.
Smiff throws a hook to the side of Kooli's head but Kooli sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Smiff circles away from the clinch attempt

and Smiff counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Smiff.
Smiff is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kooli looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Smiff passes into half guard.
Well, if Smiff is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Feta Kooli has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kooli is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Smiff controlling the pace.
Kooli moves into full guard.

Smiff scoring with some ground and pound.
Smiff is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kooli trying to control the position.
Smiff passes Kooli's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kooli is looking to get back to full guard here but Smiff has managed to pass to side control instead.

Kooli is trying to control Smiff's posture but Smiff avoids it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abednego Smiff showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smiff, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
