Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cabbage Patch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JaMarcus Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patch comes to the cage accompanied by Stormtrooper-Pepper. Russell has chosen My Time - Fabolous & Jeremih as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Patch sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Russell somewhat.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Patch.
Patch throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Patch lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Russell backs up against the cage.

Russell connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
No joy there for Patch, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Patch throws a series of punches but Russell avoids them all with ease.

Cabbage Patch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Patch slaps away a takedown attempt from Russell, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Russell tries to close the distance and clinch but Patch swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Russell dives in and grabs Patch's left leg, looking for a takedown. Patch pushes down on Russell's head and hops out.

Patch connects with a good right hand that stumbles Russell. Russell circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Patch stuffs the takedown attempt from Russell. Russell gets slowly back to his feet.
Patch takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Russell dodges the punch combination from Patch.

Russell drives through with a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Russell decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Patch, up you get!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Patch displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Russell shoots in for a takedown but Patch shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cabbage Patch will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Patch rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Russell moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Patch lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Russell circles away quickly and effectively.

Russell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Russell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Patch defends it nicely.
Patch throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Russell.

Russell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Russell is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Patch is trying to escape and Russell transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Patch is forced to tap! Nice work there by Russell! Very nice indeed!

A relieved looking JaMarcus Russell thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
