Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Mike Cage has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Cage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nick Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage fails with a takedown attempt.
Cage fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Cage with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Cage. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cage fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Hendricks shoots in and bounces Cage off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Cage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cage is trying to control the position but Hendricks postures up.
Hendricks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hendricks wants to pass the guard but Cage is keeping the position.

Cage could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hendricks shoots in but no luck this time.
Cage will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hendricks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cage swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Hendricks counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cage really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Cage wants to control but Hendricks is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hendricks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cage keeps working.
Hendricks not doing much here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hendricks tries to pass to full mount but Cage defends it.

Cage has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hendricks is working away from the top position though.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cage shoots in and drives through. Hendricks sprawls well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cage defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hendricks.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cage is defended easily by Hendricks.
Cage is breathing heavily.

Cage clinches up with Hendricks and pushes him back against the cage.
Hendricks wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cage trying to land knees to the body.
Cage is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Hendricks fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Cage trying to control the position but instead, Hendricks has worked for underhooks and has pushed Cage into the cage.
Hendricks is pressed up against the cage. Cage has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hendricks down to the mat. Hendricks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hendricks takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Hendricks tries to clinch up but Cage circles away and keeps his distance.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hendricks looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cage is looking to clinch but Hendricks is avoiding it.
Hendricks throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Mike Cage has been cut.
Hendricks fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hendricks misses with a head kick.
Cage fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cage shoots in for a double leg but Hendricks sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cage avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hendricks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cage tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hendricks clinches.
Cage goes for a takedown attempt but Hendricks pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hendricks pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Hendricks is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Hendricks has managed to clinch.
Hendricks drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cage pulls his leg out and moves away.

Cage clinches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cage fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Hendricks is looking for a takedown.

Cage escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hendricks throws a sloppy head kick and Cage moves out of range easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hendricks keeps the fight on the outside.
Hendricks will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mike Cage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Hendricks.
Cage tries for a takedown but Hendricks sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hendricks lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hendricks.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hendricks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cage, pushing him back against the cage.
Hendricks blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Cage tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hendricks smiles and moves away.
Cage looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Cage blocks a head kick by Hendricks.
Hendricks fails with the takedown.
Cage changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hendricks tries to avoid it but Cage manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hendricks to the ground. Hendricks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hendricks gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Cage can't find room to land a body shot as Hendricks controls the action.

Hendricks jumps guard.
Hendricks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cage tries to free his leg and advance position but Hendricks is retaining full guard.

Cage stopping the sweep attempt from Hendricks.
Cage trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Cage controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hendricks looking for a sweep. Not yet Hendricks, not yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Cage has Hendricks up against the cage in a clinch.
Cage wants to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Hendricks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Mike Cage's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Hendricks dives in for a single leg takedown but Cage sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Cage pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cage wants to stand up but Hendricks is controlling him.
Hendricks throws a big right hand that misses.
Hendricks forces his way into half guard.

Hendricks is trying to work for a kimura but Cage is defending well.

Cage manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Hendricks is looking to clinch.
Cage swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Hendricks is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cage's half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cage tries to get to full guard but Hendricks has control of the leg.
Hendricks missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Cage is trying to stand back up but Hendricks is controlling him

Cage is not content to let Hendricks control the position.

Cage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hendricks trying to pass the guard but Cage defending well.
Cage is trying to maintain the position but Hendricks is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Still in half guard, Hendricks seems content to control.

Nick Hendricks has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Hendricks shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cage sprawls well. Cage wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hendricks gets slowly back to his feet.
Cage shoots in for a takedown but Hendricks shows good takedown defense.
Hendricks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cage manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hendricks keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cage stuffs the takedown attempt from Hendricks. Hendricks gets slowly back to his feet.

Nick Hendricks is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Nick Hendricks.
I've got Hendricks winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
