Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has chosen bodys as his entrance music. Sam Peterson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorge Santiago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago moves out of range as Peterson strikes.
Peterson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Santiago tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Santiago misses with a takedown attempt - Peterson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Santiago throws a nice outside leg kick.
Santiago tries to clinch up but Peterson circles away and keeps his distance.
Santiago lands a nice leg kick that just misses Peterson's sensitive parts.
Peterson throws a leg kick but Santiago sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Peterson pushes Santiago up against the cage in a clinch.
Peterson tries to pull guard but Santiago holds him up against the cage and eventually Peterson drops back down to his feet.
Peterson working hard to break the clinch.
Peterson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Peterson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Peterson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Peterson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Santiago fails with a takedown attempt.
Peterson keeps the fight on the outside.
Santiago tries for a takedown but Peterson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jorge Santiago. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Peterson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Peterson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Peterson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Santiago sees it coming and defends easily.
Santiago really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Santiago has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peterson is working away from the top position though.

Peterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Peterson prevents Santiago from standing back up.

Peterson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santiago is just riding it out for now. Peterson eventually gives up the hold.
Peterson content to control rather than advance.

Santiago trying to control but Peterson postures up.
Peterson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Santiago knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Santiago fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Peterson avoids it really well and circles away.

Santiago feints and then cracks Peterson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peterson down.
Santiago fails in his attempt to clinch.
Santiago lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Santiago.
Santiago tries to clinch up but Peterson circles away and keeps his distance.
Jorge Santiago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santiago fails with the takedown

and Peterson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Peterson is taking a breather. Santiago says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Peterson throws a right hand that Santiago ducks under and follows up with a left that Santiago also avoids with ease.
Peterson throws a lazy uppercut
and Santiago counters with a series of strikes. Peterson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Peterson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Peterson fails with a takedown attempt.
Santiago just misses with a punch to the body.

Peterson gets the takedown into side control.
Peterson wants to stand but Santiago is controlling his arm.
Santiago struggling a bit here.
Peterson wants to stand but Santiago has his arm trapped.

Peterson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santiago knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Santiago is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Peterson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Peterson tries to get to his feet but Santiago is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Peterson in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peterson trying to control the action but Santiago is working from the bottom.
Santiago manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Peterson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Santiago looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sam Peterson was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Peterson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Santiago circles away.
Santiago fails with the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


The fight stays on the outside here - Santiago looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Peterson feints and as Santiago raises his hands in defense, Peterson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Santiago knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peterson on the ground.
Peterson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Peterson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Santiago's guard.
Santiago is trying to maintain the position but Peterson is very close to passing his half guard.

Santiago trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Peterson manages to pass to mount!
Santiago is trying to escape the mount.

Peterson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Santiago manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Peterson tries for a kimura but Santiago is defending well.
Santiago tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Peterson prevents Santiago from escaping the position.

Peterson stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Peterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santiago is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Santiago looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Peterson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Sam Peterson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Santiago has his takedown stuffed

and Peterson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Peterson.

Peterson passes Santiago's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Peterson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santiago is just riding it out for now. Peterson eventually gives up the hold.

Sam Peterson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Peterson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
