Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Nolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miyamoto Musashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nolan comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger. Peter Nolan had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Nolan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miyamoto Musashi!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Musashi enables Nolan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Musashi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Musashi has momentary wrist control but Nolan slips an elbow through the middle.
Musashi controls Nolan momentarily but Nolan frees himself.
We've been hearing good reports from Nolan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Musashi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nolan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nolan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nolan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Musashi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nolan defends it nicely.
Nolan lands a leg kick that knocks Musashi off balance momentarily.
Musashi shoots in for a takedown but Nolan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Musashi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nolan as he avoids it easily.
Peter Nolan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miyamoto Musashi.
Nolan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Musashi.

Nolan swats away the attempt to clinch by Musashi.

Nolan misses with a takedown attempt - Musashi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Musashi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nolan.

Musashi closes the distance and clinches.
Nolan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Musashi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Musashi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Musashi throws a jab but it's blocked by Nolan.
Musashi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nolan defends well and Musashi ends up having to push Nolan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Nolan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Nolan throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Nolan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Musashi to keep the fight standing.
Nolan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Musashi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Musashi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Musashi shoots for a takedown but Nolan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nolan has a takedown stuffed.

Nolan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Musashi!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nolan has an Americana. Musashi didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Nolan is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Nolan hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Peter Nolan!
