PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonidas Sheynauvah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordon Ramsay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leonidas Sheynauvah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gordon Ramsay!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Ramsay or perhaps it was just good defense by Sheynauvah which made him look bad.
Ramsay takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Sheynauvah throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Ramsay counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sheynauvah won't be happy with that.
Ramsay scores with punches from side control.
Sheynauvah wants to control but Ramsay postures up.
Sheynauvah manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ramsay is trying to control but can't.
Ramsay controlling the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ramsay is trying to get back to full guard.

Sheynauvah postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ramsay to stand up.
Sheynauvah looks to score with a jab to the body but Ramsay is just out of range.

Ramsay feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ramsay throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sheynauvah works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Sheynauvah is pulling down on Ramsay's head to control his posture.
Ramsay tries to free his leg and advance position but Sheynauvah is retaining full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ramsay throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sheynauvah looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ramsay is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ramsay fails with a takedown attempt.
Ramsay looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Leonidas Sheynauvah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gordon Ramsay.

Sheynauvah tries to land a leg kick but Ramsay saw it coming and moves away.
Ramsay blocks a low kick nicely.
Ramsay looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Ramsay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sheynauvah manages to avoid it.

and Ramsay counters with a nice body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sheynauvah throws a sloppy head kick and Ramsay moves out of range easily.
Ramsay looks for a takedown but Sheynauvah sprawls well.
Ramsay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sheynauvah tries to avoid it but Ramsay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sheynauvah to the ground. Sheynauvah escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sheynauvah throws a leg kick but Ramsay moved away.
Sheynauvah misses with a hook.
Ramsay staying out of range there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ramsay tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sheynauvah sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ramsay somewhat.
Ramsay darts in looking for a takedown but Sheynauvah gets double underhooks and turns Ramsay into the cage.

Ramsay blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

It looks like Gordon Ramsay has been cut.
Ramsay avoiding damage as Sheynauvah throws knees to the body.
Sheynauvah is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Ramsay is defending well for now.

Sheynauvah tries to land a knee to the head but Ramsay blocks with his arms.
Ramsay is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Sheynauvah misses with a body punch.
Ramsay blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Sheynauvah.
Sheynauvah misses with a hook to the ribs.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Sheynauvah.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sheynauvah tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ramsay avoids it.
Ramsay is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ramsay on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Leonidas Sheynauvah will probably get the nod.

Ramsay shoots in and drives through. Sheynauvah sprawls well.
Sheynauvah leaves Ramsay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Ramsay manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sheynauvah on his heels. He'll look to pass Sheynauvah's guard now, I'm sure.

Sheynauvah is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Leonidas Sheynauvah.
Sheynauvah throws a hook to the side of Ramsay's head but Ramsay sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Ramsay misses with an uppercut.
Ramsay uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sheynauvah.
Ramsay is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sheynauvah.
Ramsay takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ramsay wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Sheynauvah keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ramsay on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Sheynauvah throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ramsay closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sheynauvah to the mat! Sheynauvah manages to get full guard.

Sheynauvah will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sheynauvah looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sheynauvah utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Leonidas Sheynauvah wasn't doing enough on the ground.
The fighters circle, before Sheynauvah throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Ramsay's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Sheynauvah lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Leonidas Sheynauvah!
