Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Menezes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riley Sykes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryan Menezes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Riley Sykes!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sykes lands with an overhand left.
Sykes misses with a takedown attempt - Menezes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Sykes rushes Menezes and presses him up against the cage.
Menezes wants to break free but Sykes has control.
Menezes throws a head punch that misses.
Sykes keeps control of Menezes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Sykes pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Sykes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Menezes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sykes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sykes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Menezes trying to control but Sykes is working from the bottom.

Sykes wants to sweep but no luck.

Menezes wants to control from the top but Sykes keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bryan Menezes just wasn't active enough.

It looks like Riley Sykes has been cut.
Menezes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Menezes looks to land a combination but Sykes avoids it well.

Menezes tries to close the distance and clinch but Sykes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sykes is trying to pull guard but Menezes turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Sykes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Menezes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sykes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sykes connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Sykes rushes Menezes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sykes breaks from the clinch.
Menezes falls off balance throwing a combination
and Sykes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sykes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Menezes tries to clinch up.
Menezes throws a leg kick but Sykes moved away.
Menezes misses with a double jab

and Sykes counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Menezes is breathing heavily.

Sykes breaks from the clinch.
Menezes uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sykes has time to react.
Sykes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Menezes's waist but Menezes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sykes off to one side.
Menezes leaves Sykes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Menezes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sykes shoots for a takedown but Menezes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sykes.

Sykes swats away the attempt to clinch by Menezes.
Sykes fails with a takedown attempt.
Menezes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Sykes clinches up against the cage.
Sykes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Menezes has him pressed against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Menezes is trying to force a seperation but Sykes has the dominant position.
Menezes is looking to control Sykes's arms but Sykes gets an underhook and turns him. Now Menezes has his back to the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sykes tries to circle away but Menezes has him pinned against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Riley Sykes will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Menezes trying to control the position from guard on top but Sykes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Sykes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Menezes avoids it really well and circles away.

Sykes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Menezes tries to avoid it but Sykes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Menezes to the ground. Menezes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Menezes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Menezes wants it to stay on the feet.

Sykes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Menezes tries to avoid it but Sykes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Menezes to the ground. Menezes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sykes dives in and grabs Menezes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Menezes pushes down on Sykes's head and hops out.

Menezes feints a jab promting Sykes to slip. Menezes then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sykes slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Menezes tries to clinch but Sykes is having none of it.

Sykes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sykes wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Menezes prevents the takedown attempt.
Menezes tries to pull guard but Sykes won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bryan Menezes will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Riley Sykes's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Menezes tries to clinch up

and Sykes counters by moving into the clinch.

Sykes successfully pulls guard.

Sykes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Menezes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Menezes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Menezes is fighting to break Sykes's control of his arms but Sykes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Sykes doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sykes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Menezes gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sykes slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Menezes is looking to regain half guard here but Sykes keeps moving and retains side control.
Menezes is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Menezes tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Sykes presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Sykes throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Sykes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Menezes is looking to escape.

Riley Sykes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sykes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
