The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makkonen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sloppy strikes from Cade. Those never looked like landing.
Cade wants to land a leg kick but Makkonen is out of range.
Cade clinches up with Makkonen and pushes him back against the cage.

Makkonen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cade looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cade looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cade!

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Makkonen trying his best to control but Cade has mounted him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Makkonen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Makkonen misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Makkonen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cade rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Makkonen's guard! Nice work there by Cade!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A very excited looking Carl Cade rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
