Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wendell Oliveira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinya Aoki!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Oliveira has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Oliveira bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Oliveira takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Shinya Aoki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Aoki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Oliveira doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aoki.

Aoki seems to be working for a kimura but Oliveira defends the submission attempt.
Oliveira has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aoki is working away from the top position though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wendell Oliveira.
I think Aoki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
