PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Octavio Rag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Break (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Break's choice of entrance music: Slippin. Jack Break is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Octavio Rag!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Break!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Break gets tackled into the cage by Rag. Rag maintains the clinch.
Rag creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Break's defenses.
Rag stops a takedown attempt from Break.
With the fighters up against the cage, Rag throws an elbow but misses.
Rag throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Rag trying to land knees to the body.
Rag lands an elbow inside that Break shrugs off.
Break on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rag doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Break tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rag just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rag taking a breather.
Rag crunches a lovely knee into Break's ribcage.
Rag lands an elbow just above Break 's eye.
Rag lands a right hand that snaps the head of Break backwards.
Rag connects with a knee to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rag tries to land knees in the clinch but Break avoids the damage to the body.
Break is trying to pull guard but Rag turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Octavio Rag has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Break.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rag tries to land a knee to the head but Break blocks with his arms.
Break goes for a takedown attempt but Rag pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rag lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rag works Break's body with a nice hook.
Rag darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Rag connects with an inside leg kick.
Rag lands a leg kick that knocks Break off balance momentarily.
Rag moves in looking to clinch but Break pushes him off.
Break uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rag.
Break tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rag swivels and escapes.
Rag cracks the inside of Break's front leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rag misses with a straight left.
Octavio Rag seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Break takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Octavio Rag is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rag leaves Break with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Break shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rag is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rag is in trouble now - Break has advanced to mount!

Break working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rag keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Break has control of Rag's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rag regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Break is working for a guillotine from mount but Rag frees his head quite easily.

Break is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rag to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rag shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Break looking to control and managing it successfully.

Break has control of Rag's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rag regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Break jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rag manages to avoid the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Break dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Rag lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Rag scores with a punch to the head.
Rag will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rag clinches with his opponent.
Rag pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Break has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rag after a bit of a struggle.
Break takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Jack Break has been cut.
Rag landing knees to the head.
Rag misses with a knee to the head.
Rag throws a knee to the head but misses.
Rag trying to control the position but instead, Break has worked for underhooks and has pushed Rag into the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rag seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Break is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Rag tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Break pulls guard effortlessly.

Rag is sitting in close to Break's body. Break has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rag is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rag is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Break.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jack Break!
Our winner, Jack Break, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
