The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sax pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Petrov back to the cage. Sax follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Igor Petrov has been cut.

Petrov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Petrov not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Petrov seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Petrov in particular looking to stall.

Igor Petrov has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sax shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Petrov pinned against the cage. Petrov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sax will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sax throws a right hand that Petrov ducks under and follows up with a left that Petrov also avoids with ease.
Sax avoids the head kick by Petrov.
Sax fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sax shoots for a double leg takedown but Petrov sprawls well. He's pushed Sax's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Petrov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sax to the ground. Petrov is now in Sax's guard.
Sax wants to get back to his feet but Petrov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sax can do anything to dispel that myth.
Petrov is pushing down on Sax's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sax is fighting to maintain full guard but Petrov has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sax wants to get back to his feet.
Petrov seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Petrov is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Sax is forced to tap! Great finish!
