The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Washington fails with an attempt to clinch.
Washington looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Washington throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rutten throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Washington tries to clinch but Rutten moves out of range.
Washington throws a head kick that Rutten semi-blocks.
Washington tries to clinch there but Rutten circles away.
Washington misses with a two punch combination.
Rutten keeps the fight on the outside.
Washington gets cracked there but stands up to it.
It looks like Gary Washington has been cut.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rutten creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Washington has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rutten avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Washington drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rutten gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Washington has Rutten pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rutten manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Washington misses with a knee strike.
Rutten breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rutten comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Rutten looks to score with a jab to the body but Washington is just out of range.
That kick from Rutten tenderised Washington's leg. Washington is trying to keep his angry face on.

Rutten moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rutten cracks Washington with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Washington tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Rutten pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Washington is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Taz Rutten!
