Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harry Kalas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Prevost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalas comes to the cage accompanied by I Abstain, Converge. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harry Kalas!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Prevost!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prevost dodges the punch combination from Kalas.
Kalas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kalas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Prevost paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kalas scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kalas lands an elbow.
Kalas working the body and head with strikes.
Kalas wants to control but Prevost is keeping him busy.
Kalas creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Prevost tries to buck Kalas off but Kalas is having none of it.
Kalas tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Prevost is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Kalas decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Prevost swats away the attempt to clinch by Kalas.
Prevost misses with a takedown attempt - Kalas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Kalas as Prevost shoots in.
Kalas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Prevost shoots for a double leg takedown but Kalas sprawls well. He's pushed Prevost's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Harry Kalas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Prevost.

Kalas pushes Prevost up against the cage in a clinch.
Kalas controlling the action here for a moment.
Prevost is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kalas pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kalas crunches a lovely knee into Prevost's ribcage.
Kalas landing knees to the head.
A bit of stalling here from Kalas.
Prevost tries for a takedown but Kalas manages to get underhooks.
Prevost looks gassed!
Prevost is working for takedown but Kalas is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kalas has Prevost pressed against the cage.
Kalas lands a nice knee to the body.
Kalas connects with a knee to the head.

Kalas jumps into guard, dragging Prevost to the mat.

Kalas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Prevost throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kalas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kalas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Prevost stands up over Kalas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Kalas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Prevost gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kalas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kalas throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Kalas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Prevost!
Kalas prevents Prevost from getting the reversal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The referee warns Prevost that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Kalas can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Prevost is looking to escape.
Prevost is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Prevost keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Kalas fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Kalas working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Prevost is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Kalas locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Prevost is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Harry Kalas!
Harry Kalas retains his lightweight title!
