PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bucky The Badger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mark Pineda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bucky The Badger!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pineda moves out of range of the strikes.
The Badger pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Pineda drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Jab, jab by The Badger - just one landing.
The Badger throws a shot from downtown. Pineda moves away and avoids it.
Nice body kick there by The Badger.
Pineda checks the leg kick.
Pineda throws a body punch but The Badger moves out of range.
Pineda displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as The Badger throws out the jab.
No joy there for Pineda, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Pineda counters with a nice double leg into side control. The Badger won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Pineda throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck The Badger on the side of the head.
The Badger lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Pineda throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Pineda takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

so Pineda counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pineda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Badger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pineda is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mark Pineda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The Badger throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The Badger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pineda does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mark Pineda will probably get the nod.

Pineda throws a series of punches but The Badger avoids them all with ease.

Donk. The Badger catches Pineda right on the button with a cross.
Pineda takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The Badger smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
The Badger is looking to slow Pineda down with leg kicks.
The Badger wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Bucky The Badger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The Badger throws out a powerful jab.
The Badger throws a push kick but Pineda slaps the foot to one side.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pineda on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Pineda throws a combination but it was largely blocked by The Badger.
The Badger gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and Pineda counters with a nice double leg into side control. The Badger won't be happy with that.
Pineda lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The Badger tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pineda wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The Badger moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pineda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

I would just about give that final round to Bucky The Badger.
I think The Badger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
