The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mapompo misses with a body shot.

and Grozni counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

A left hand lands to the body for Grozni.
Mapompo lands a right hand that snaps the head of Grozni backwards.

Grozni jumps guard but Mapompo stands there with Grozni around his waist. Grozni gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Grozni has Mapompo pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Grozni pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mapompo tumbling to the mat - Grozni dives into Mapompo's guard.

Grozni misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grozni throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mapompo because Grozni loaded up on that one.
Grozni cracks Mapompo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Grozni has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mapompo's face.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Grozni lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

It looks like George Mapompo has been cut.

Mapompo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Grozni.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grozni postures up, still in guard. A huge hammer fist lands that bounces Mapompo's head off the mat! Mapompo is out! He's out! Grozni jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!
