Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bj Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Houses (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bj Cole is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bj Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Houses!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Houses shoots in for a takedown but Cole shows good takedown defense.
Houses shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cole counters with a nice body shot.
Cole fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Houses avoids it really well and circles away.

Houses shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cole manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Houses not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cole on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cole tries to get out of the position.
Houses pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cole is keeping the position for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dave Houses hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Cole tries to clinch but Houses moves out of range.

Houses thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cole's head.
Houses frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Houses looking to secure an arm triangle but Cole defends it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Houses working away from the top, dropping strikes.

Houses looking for a guillotine from mount but Cole is having none of it.
Houses is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Houses wants to control the pace but Cole is squirming around nicely.

Houses gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Houses is looking to clinch.
Houses ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Houses shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cole counters by moving into the clinch.

Cole goes for a takedown in the clinch but Houses prevents it.
Houses changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cole fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Houses feints and as Cole raises his hands in defense, Houses changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Houses slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Houses misses with a takedown

and Cole counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cole has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Houses wants to sweep here but Cole controlling him for the moment.
Cole working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Houses trying to control the position.

Cole stands up from Houses's guard - Cole perhaps looking for a knockout.
Houses tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Houses looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Houses shoots for a takedown but Cole saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Cole changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Houses tries to avoid it but Cole manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Houses to the ground. Houses escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Houses has managed to clinch.
Houses fails to pull guard.
Bj Cole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Houses.
Cole tries to pull guard but Houses holds him up against the cage and eventually Cole drops back down to his feet.
Cole will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Houses up against the cage.
Houses wants to take the fight to the mat but Cole manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Houses has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cole after a bit of a struggle.

Houses jumps into guard, dragging Cole to the mat.

Houses looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Cole wants to stand but Houses has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cole trying to control the position from guard on top but Houses is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Houses is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Houses wants to sweep but no luck.
Houses is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cole won't allow Houses to pass to mount.

Cole is trying to control but can't.
Houses is looking to stall here but Cole recovers full guard.
Dave Houses has got the better of the ground game so far.
Houses wants to pass the guard but Cole is keeping the position.
Houses in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cole is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cole wants to sweep but no luck.
Cole keeping moving, preventing Houses from controlling successfully.

Cole is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Houses defends well.
Cole wants to control the position but Houses says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Houses works his foot free and advances to mount.
Houses is stalling here but it's allowed Cole to get half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, if Houses is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Dave Houses will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Cole tries to clinch but Houses moves out of range.
No joy there for Cole, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Houses drives through with a takedown into guard.
Houses trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cole throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cole looking to control.
Houses trying to control but Cole is working from the bottom.
Houses postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Houses gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Houses rushes Cole and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Houses has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cole uses from the top position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Houses counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cole's guard now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dave Houses comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Houses has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
