PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cris Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Daisoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daisoo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Indestructible. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cris Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daisoo darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage.

Carter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Daisoo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Carter.
A head kick lands from Carter that sends Daisoo to the canvas. Daisoo tries to scramble back to his feet but Carter brings him back down into side control.

Daisoo is rocked!

It looks like Kim Daisoo has been cut.
You can see the frustration on Daisoo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Daisoo is still in real trouble! Can Carter finish him?
Daisoo tries to bench press Carter off him but Carter keeps the position.
Daisoo seems to have recovered his senses.
Carter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Daisoo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Daisoo is trying to maintain a safe position but Carter gets an underhook and turns Daisoo into the cage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Carter jumps guard but Daisoo stands there with Carter around his waist. Carter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Daisoo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Daisoo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carter's guard.
Daisoo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carter is proving hard to escape from.
Daisoo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Carter throws a lazy right hand but Daisoo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Daisoo counters with a three punch combo that has Carter backing up. Carter nods at Daisoo to acknowledge the strikes.

Daisoo closes the distance and clinches.
Carter jumps guard but Daisoo stands there with Carter around his waist. Carter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Daisoo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carter.
Daisoo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carter swats him away and circles back towards the center.

No joy there for Carter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Daisoo scores with a shot to the body.
Carter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Carter is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Carter misses with a hook. Daisoo ducked under it nicely.
Carter throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A head kick from Daisoo lands but Carter takes it in his stride.
Daisoo shoots for a takedown but Carter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Carter takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Daisoo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Daisoo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Carter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Daisoo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
