Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Stanlay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Lexsand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shawn Lexsand told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lexsand has his takedown stuffed
and Stanlay decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lexsand's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Stanlay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lexsand swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stanlay has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stanlay accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lexsand shoots in looking for a takedown. Stanlay tries to sprawl out of it but Lexsand keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stanlay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stanlay shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lexsand napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Lexsand takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Stanlay lands a few punches from side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stanlay cracks Lexsand with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Stanlay lands a strong strike to the head of Lexsand. That's dazed him! Stanlay looking to finish here. Lexsand is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Stanlay lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hugh Stanlay!
