The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes instigates a clinch.
Mendes works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ouellette manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ouellette looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mendes tries to hold on but Ouellette pushes him away.
Ouellette is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Mendes is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Mendes flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Ouellette anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Mendes and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Ouellette slips an arm under Mendes chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Ouellette has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Ouellette is squeezing on Mendes like an anaconda would it's prey. Mendes fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Charles Ouellette!
