The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laupati with a poor takedown
and Nelson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nelson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Nelson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Laupati tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Nelson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Laupati darts in and clinches Nelson up against the cage.
Nelson tries to break free but Laupati pushes him back against the cage.
Laupati jumps guard but Nelson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nelson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Laupati quickly recovers to half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nelson connects with a nice short shot to Laupati's temple.

Nelson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Laupati after a bit of a struggle.
