PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Geoffrey Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, "Vindaloo" by Fat Les. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones leaves Boy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Boy. Boy gets slowly back to his feet.
Boy fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Geoffrey Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Boy.
Boy misses with a head kick.
Jones leaves Boy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jones forces Boy back against the cage and clinches.
Jones wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Boy just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jones's brow.

Boy avoids the elbow strike from Jones, against the cage.

Boy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boy misses the shot to the body.
Boy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jones tries to clinch but Boy moves away

and Boy moves into the clinch.

Jones pulls Boy into guard.
Boy won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Boy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Boy sits in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.

Boy not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jones pushes Boy off but Boy dives into side control.
Boy advances to mount.
Boy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.
Boy works his way to his opponent's back.

Boy somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Jones has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Boy.
Jones looking very determined here, making life difficult for Boy.
Boy is trying to stick to Jones's back but Jones is turning into Boy. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Boy's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jones.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boy is trying to keep Jones in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Boy dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Boy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Boy is controlling him.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jones.

Boy has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Johnny Boy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boy is defended easily by Jones.
Boy moves out of range of the body kick.
Boy throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jones's head.
Jones darts in trying to clinch

and Boy moves into the clinch.
Boy misses with a hook to the ribs.

Jones throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Boy can't get the takedown.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Boy tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Boy pulls Jones into guard.

Boy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

Jones manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Boy tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Boy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Jones shoots for a takedown but Boy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Boy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Jones moves in looking to clinch but Boy pushes him off.
Jones throws a body kick that misses.
Boy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.

A frustrated look appears on Jones's face as he tries to break the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jones creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Jones is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Jones is trying to force a seperation but Boy has the dominant position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boy tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Boy drops back down to his feet.
Boy is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Boy has him pressed against the cage.
Jones throws a punch but it's blocked by Boy.
Jones lands with a left to the head.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Geoffrey Jones will probably get the nod.

Boy takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Boy moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.

Geoffrey Jones is winning the standup battle so far.
Boy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Boy throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Boy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Jones closes the distance and pushes Boy back into the cage.

Boy drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Geoffrey Jones showed his dominance in that final round.

Geoffrey Jones tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
