Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jakoba Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Drago!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Drago's waist but Drago gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Drago sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Drago drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Drago just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jakoba Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Drago ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Drago no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Drago keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Drago can do anything to dispel that myth.
Drago is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drago swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Drago preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Drago pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage.
Drago keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Jakoba Jones wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Drago sprawls well. Drago wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones looks to clinch

and Drago counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.
Drago scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones being controlled here, momentarily.
Jones has a closed guard, preventing Drago from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones is looking to sinch up a triangle. Drago throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Jones's body to avoid the submission. Jones has instead reached around Drago's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Jones arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jakoba Jones!
