PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erik Eriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Eriksson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to it snows in hell. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Erik Eriksson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anthony Wong!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wong throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Eriksson was covering up waiting for the punch and Wong finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Wong stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Wong throws a head kick but Eriksson moves out of range.

Wong fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Eriksson to the ground. Wong is now in Eriksson's guard.
Eriksson wants to sweep here but Wong controlling him for the moment.
Wong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wong decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Wong lands a big head kick that sends Eriksson tumbling to the mat! Wong takes a step backwards and waves Eriksson back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Eriksson is rocked!


It looks like Erik Eriksson has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Eriksson wants to clinch but Wong slips to the side

and Wong holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Wong stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Wong has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Eriksson uses from the top position.

Wong controls Eriksson momentarily but Eriksson frees himself.

Wong wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Wong should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Wong jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Eriksson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Eriksson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Wong connects with a decent elbow.

Eriksson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Eriksson is breathing heavily.
Eriksson trying to control but Wong flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Wong lands a shot to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Eriksson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wong as he jumps to the side.

Wong working over Eriksson with some ground and pound. Eriksson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Wong is trying to work for a kimura but Eriksson is defending well.

Wong decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Wong moves into the clinch successfully.

Wong has Eriksson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Wong pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Eriksson tumbling to the mat - Wong dives into Eriksson's guard.
Wong is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Let's hope that Wong has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Eriksson has his hands on Wong's head, controlling the position.

Wong closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wong drops an elbow to the side of Eriksson's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Eriksson is trying to control but can't.
Wong is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Wong stands up out of the half guard.

Wong chips away with some ground and pound.

Anthony Wong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Eriksson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Wong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eriksson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Wong perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Wong decides to stand up.

Eriksson tries to keep at a distance but Wong has taken the fight into the clinch.

Wong breaks the clinch.

Wong looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Eriksson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Wong is looking for a kimura but Eriksson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wong to get the leverage.

Wong performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Eriksson is looking to control Wong's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Eriksson avoid being mounted?
Wong is taking a breather. Eriksson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Eriksson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Anthony Wong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wong has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
