PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jame Call (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Brownstone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Call comes into the arena with Rainin Men blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jame Call!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Brownstone!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Call lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Brownstone takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Brownstone has a takedown stuffed.
Call tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brownstone paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brownstone dives in and grabs Call's left leg, looking for a takedown. Call pushes down on Brownstone's head and hops out.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Brownstone.
Call displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brownstone.
Jame Call has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Brownstone.

Brownstone throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Brownstone cracks Call with a big right hand but Call just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brownstone parries the strikes from Call easily there. Call is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Brownstone to escape.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Brownstone tries to bum rush Call with a series of wild strikes but Call uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Brownstone shoots in and bounces Call off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Brownstone throws a strike but Call rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Brownstone bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Call's guard.

Brownstone is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brownstone throws an elbow that misses. Call uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brownstone's guard. Nice move by Call!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Call accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dan Brownstone has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dan Brownstone wasn't active enough on the ground.
