Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chuck Lindell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Powell! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lindell clobbers Powell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Powell takes one to the side of the head.
It looks like Joe Powell has been cut. Chuck Lindell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lindell keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Jab, jab by Lindell - just one landing. Lindell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Powell is rocked! Powell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Powell is still on wobbly legs! Can Lindell finish him? This has been an exciting period of action! Lindell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Powell wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lindell has him pressed against the cage. Powell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lindell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Powell wants to clinch. Powell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lindell defends it nicely. Lindell lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Powell at a distance.
Powell seems to have recovered his senses. Powell looks winded! Lindell pounces like a tiger and cracks Powell with a vicious hook! Powell is down but not out! Lindell follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Chuck Lindell! An out of breath Chuck Lindell thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
