The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarlson on the wrong end of a nice jab.
McCarlson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nickoson looks for a takedown but McCarlson sprawls well.
Nickoson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nickoson shoots for a double leg takedown but McCarlson sprawls well. He's pushed Nickoson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nickoson throws a half hearted mid kick.
McCarlson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nickoson pinned against the cage. Nickoson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McCarlson shoots in but Nickoson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jason Nickoson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max McCarlson.
Nickoson moves in looking to clinch but McCarlson pushes him off.
Nickoson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McCarlson sprawls well. McCarlson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nickoson gets slowly back to his feet.
Nickoson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Nickoson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Nickoson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McCarlson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
McCarlson checks a low kick from Nickoson.

McCarlson moves into the clinch successfully.
Nickoson is trying to pull guard but McCarlson has him pressed against the cage.

McCarlson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
McCarlson chips away with some ground and pound.

McCarlson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Nickoson getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Nickoson is breathing heavily.

McCarlson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Well, if McCarlson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
McCarlson uses his free foot to push down on Nickoson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nickoson.

McCarlson looking to isolate an arm here. Nickoson doesn't see it coming and as McCarlson extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by McCarlson!
