Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Twist! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bryan Lester! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Twist shoots for a takedown but Lester saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Twist will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lester throws an overhand right that lands on Twist's shoulder, as Twist tries to avoid the shot. Twist connects with an inside leg kick. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Twist. Lester will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Lester tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Twist swivels and escapes. Lester circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lester shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lester was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! A lull in the action here. Lester stands up and beckons Twist to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Twist takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Twist is looking to clinch. Lester keeps the fight on the outside. Twist shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lester pinned against the cage. Lester gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Twist tries to clinch but Lester moves away and Lester counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Lester is trying to break the clinch but Twist has him pressed against the cage. Twist trying to stall but Lester improves his position.
Lester's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lester shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Lester in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Twist tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Lester!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bryan Lester! A relieved looking Bryan Lester thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
