Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Kirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Loid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Kirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harry Loid!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kirk scores with a shot to the body.
Harry Loid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Loid. No joy for Kirk on that attempt.
Kirk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Loid.
Loid fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kirk tries to score a power double leg takedown but Loid sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kirk somewhat.
Loid will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Loid looks for a takedown but Kirk sprawls well.
Loid fails with a takedown attempt.
James Kirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harry Loid.
Loid shoots in but Kirk avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Loid counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Loid.
Kirk is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Loid is defending well.
Loid has Kirk pressed against the cage, preventing Kirk from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kirk is trying to pull guard but Loid has him pressed against the cage.
Kirk wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kirk is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Loid to keep the fight standing.
Kirk tries to pull guard but Loid holds him up against the cage and eventually Kirk drops back down to his feet.

Loid misses with a hook from the clinch.

Loid throws a punch but it's blocked by Kirk.

Loid gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kirk counters with an inside leg kick.
Kirk loads up on a big right hand but Loid slips the punch.
Kirk closes this distance looking for a takedown but Loid circles away.
Loid misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kirk closes the distance and clinches up with Loid, looking for a takedown. Kirk pushes Loid against the cage but Loid circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kirk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Loid as he jumps to the side.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Loid fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Loid takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Kirk shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kirk working Loid over with strikes.
Kirk missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Kirk prevents Loid from standing back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kirk in particular looking to stall.
Kirk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Loid is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kirk scores with a couple of nice shots.

Loid has one foot on Kirk's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Loid clinches up with Kirk and pushes him back against the cage.

Kirk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Loid shoots in but Kirk avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kirk closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Loid's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Loid wants to stand up but Kirk is controlling him.
Kirk loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Loid is pulling down on Kirk's head. It's preventing any offense from Kirk, at least for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Loid wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Kirk dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Loid lands a jab to the head.
Loid stuffs the takedown attempt from Kirk. Kirk gets slowly back to his feet.
Loid misses with a left hand
and Kirk counters with a nice leg kick.
Kirk tries to clinch but Loid is having none of it.
Kirk tries to bum rush Loid with a series of wild strikes but Loid uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
James Kirk is winning the standup battle so far.
Loid turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Loid throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Loid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kirk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kirk dives in and grabs Loid's left leg, looking for a takedown. Loid pushes down on Kirk's head and hops out.
Kirk is trying hard to land a takedown here. Loid sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Kirk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Loid avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Loid scores with a takedown into Kirk's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Loid working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Kirk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Loid is one step ahead there.
Loid really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kirk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Loid drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kirk looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kirk looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kirk!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kirk controls the position.
James Kirk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Loid tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Loid tries to lock up and control but Kirk gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Loid wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kirk.
Kirk landing punches.
Kirk controlling the pace for now.
Kirk lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Loid hang on?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kirk trying to control but Loid is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Loid can do anything to dispel that myth.
Loid wants to hold on but Kirk pushes him away.
A big strike lands for Kirk! That's really hurt Loid and he's turned his back - Kirk keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Kirk jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Kirk!
James Kirk seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
