Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Damien ONeill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Magalhaes!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ONeill lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
ONeill lands with a straight right. Magalhaes didn't see that one coming.
Magalhaes should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
ONeill works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
A lazy left from ONeill finds it's target.
Magalhaes walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. ONeill checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
ONeill lands a glancing blow to the side of Magalhaes's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Magalhaes shoots for a double leg takedown but ONeill sprawls well. He's pushed Magalhaes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Magalhaes falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling ONeill to counter with a crisp jab.
Magalhaes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
ONeill dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
ONeill works Magalhaes's body with a nice hook.
Magalhaes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Magalhaes looks winded!
ONeill moves into range and connects with a jab.
ONeill lands a slapping body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round.
ONeill digs a good body shot into Magalhaes's ribs.
Magalhaes wants to clinch but ONeill slips to the side
and ONeill connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
ONeill jabs Magalhaes right on the nose. Magalhaes blinks but takes it well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
ONeill feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Magalhaes sprawling to the canvas! Magalhaes rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can ONeill finish him?!
Magalhaes is rocked!
ONeill ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
ONeill circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Magalhaes to the canvas! Magalhaes doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - ONeill keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Damien ONeill!
