Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sreven Murphy !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Powell !
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Murphy shoots in and bounces Powell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Powell looking to control but Murphy passes into half guard.
Murphy trying to control the pace.

Murphy is trying to work for a kimura but Powell is defending well.

Murphy stands up out of the half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Powell scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Murphy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Powell is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Murphy in particular looking to stall.
Murphy has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Murphy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Powell tries to hold on but Murphy pushes him away.
Murphy with shots to the head and body - Powell looks very uncomfortable down there.
Murphy tries to control but Powell wriggling away.
Powell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Murphy . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Murphy lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Powell hang on?

Murphy is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Powell to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Powell shrugs it off.
Powell tries to hold on but Murphy pushes him away.
Powell slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Murphy moves into full mount! Powell won't be happy about that!
Murphy is breathing heavily.
Powell tries to control Murphy 's body but Murphy pushes him off. Powell squirms to his side and now Murphy has his back!

Murphy is looking for the choke from the back position but Powell is controlling his hands well.

Powell is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Murphy thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Powell is trying to break free.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Murphy controlling the positon.

Murphy is looking for the choke from the back position but Powell is controlling his hands well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Powell trying to control the hands but Murphy won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murphy drives through with a takedown into Powell 's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Powell is trying to control Murphy 's posture but Murphy avoids it.

The ground and pound from Murphy seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Powell trying to remain calm as Murphy controls from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murphy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Powell 's shoulder. That is not cool.
Powell tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Murphy easily slips into full mount!

Murphy has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Powell wants to get back to his feet.
I would not like to be Powell right now.

Sreven Murphy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sreven Murphy dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Murphy .
Murphy controls the position from side control.
Powell looks to move to half guard but instead Murphy has passed into mount! Damn!

Murphy stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Powell ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Murphy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Powell !
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Murphy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Powell keeps working.
Murphy slows the pace down.
Murphy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Powell wants to control but Murphy postures up.
Murphy advances to full mount.
Murphy avoids the attempt from Powell to control.

Murphy controlling his opponent.
Murphy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Murphy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Powell can do to turn this around?

Murphy is working for a guillotine from mount but Powell frees his head quite easily.

Powell is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
Murphy fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Murphy is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Murphy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Powell tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Murphy is in Powell 's guard.
Murphy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Murphy lands a couple of elbows.
Murphy postures up.

Murphy stands up from guard. Let's bang!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Powell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Murphy swivels and escapes.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Murphy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Murphy in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sreven Murphy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Murphy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
